How to verify OKPD2 grouping based on a product description: difference from OKVED2, a verified excerpt on steel pipes, and a worksheet of grounds without assigning a final code.
How to use
- Specify the product characteristics by which the grouping is to be searched.
- Read the official version of the classifier together with the adjacent groups.
- Record the candidate and the grounds; agree on the legally significant selection for your product.

Verified fragment: seamless and welded version
In the official OKPD2 file from Rosstat, we will consider two adjacent branches for non-round steel products. The descriptions in the table are abbreviated for explanation; the exact names and notes should be read in the classifier itself.

Training task: the request states only “steel rectangular pipe”. This line does not allow selection between the branches shown. First, the technical description must be obtained, including the manufacturing method. If the documentation confirms welded construction, the seamless branch cannot be selected based on a single match of the words “non-circular cross-section”. Then the detailed positions, explanations, and sufficiency of the information for the subject are still checked.
This analysis demonstrates narrowing the search. It does not assign a code to a specific pipe, does not confirm interchangeability, and does not define the rules for applying the code in a procurement procedure.
