Map of roles in production and supply

How to understand the company's role in the supply chain: manufacturer, trading house, or cooperation participant. Questions about the site, operations, documents, and order execution map.

How to use

  1. Record the manufacturer, seller, sender, and contracting party separately.
  2. For each participant, specify the document or source confirming the role.
  3. Agree on responsibility for quality, payment, delivery, and claims.

Result: map of the manufacturer, partner, and seller.

Purpose: to determine who manufactures the product, who sells it, and how the operations are distributed. One address, photo, or activity code does not replace this map.

Company questions

  1. Where will the products be manufactured according to our specifications?
  2. What operations are performed at this site?
  3. Which operations are outsourced to cooperation partners and how are they controlled?
  4. Who can assess our documentation and technical deviations?
  5. Who provides supporting documents?
  6. What entity is proposed as the contract party?
  7. What materials can confirm capabilities essential for the order?

Completed one delivery card

Let's consider a fictitious order: 60 welded frames R-06, rev. 3, with coating. All participants are designated with training names, without Tax IDs and addresses of real companies.

Role Participant and work Basis in the training package What else to check
Manufacturer Workshop A: cutting, bending and welding Technical reply A-06 rev. 3 Process capability and geometry control
Coating applicator Section B: agreed coverage Appendix "Route", rev. 1 Requirements for coating, inspection, and transfer between sites
Seller under the contract Trading House V: sale of a complete set Draft quotation V-06 Full scope, terms and liability under the contract
Technical contact Shop technologist A Specified in response A-06 Procedure for agreeing changes with seller B
Transfer to buyer Seller B arranges delivery and documents Supply section for RFQ V-06 Date of receipt and list of documents

This chart leads to a narrow conclusion: seller B in this training example does not perform the stated production operations, while A performs part of the manufacturing. The buyer discusses the contract with B for the entire set. If the purchase requires a contract directly with the manufacturer, this option must be agreed separately or changed—the chart does not remove this requirement.

Until the documents are confirmed by real participants, this is only a model of questions. Record separately what information was stated by the seller, what was confirmed by the manufacturer, and what remained unanswered. Do not transfer the label “there is an offer” to the entire chain.
